EU Standardised tire label

The 2012 EU tire label system analyses each tire for three things:

  • Fuel efficiency – Measures the tire’s rolling resistance, which has an impact on your vehicle’s fuel efficiency.
  • Wet grip – Measures how well the tire brakes on wet roads.
  • External rolling noise - Measures the external noise generated by the tire.

Europe’s top automotive organisations and publications

At Goodyear we frequently refer to independent testing bodies, magazines and auto clubs.

They independently test tires for an average of 15 key performance criteria, typically including:

  • Wet and dry handling and braking
  • Cornering grip
  • Durability
  • Fuel consumption
  • Internal noise
  • Aquaplaning

Which organisations test our tires?

Goodyear engineers’ internal testing

We put every new tyre we design through 50 tough tests to make sure they perform as well as they were designed to.

Why? Because our customers matter to us, and because we want every product that carries the Goodyear brand to live up to our high standards. The 50 tests include:

  • Wet and dry handling and braking
  • Mileage and durability
  • Internal noise
  • Aquaplaning – curved and straight
  • Traction
  • High-speed stability
  • Our winter tyres also get tested for performance in ice, snow and other winter conditions.
